Vedic Threads

Vedic Threads is Satsangam’s signature offering — intimate conversations exploring the cultural, scientific, philosophical, and historical threads that connect Indian wisdom traditions: Ayurveda, yoga, philosophy, the arts, and more.

Sessions meet twice monthly online, with world-class guest instructors each leading a focused four-session series before passing the baton to the next, building a growing archive of 100+ recorded hours. Participants may enroll in individual series or join as members for the ongoing journey.

Death & Dying

This thought-provoking course invites participants to delve into the universal and inevitable process of death through a unique blend of Indian wisdom traditions, and end-of-life care practices. Designed for those who are either fascinated by or fearful of death, the course offers a rich exploration of the emotional and spiritual dimensions associated with dying and the care of those at the end of life.

Nāda for Healing

This 10-session immersive journey explores the healing power of sound, weaving together the timeless wisdom of Gāndharva Veda, the subtle science of Indian classical music, and the heart-opening energy of kīrtana.

Guided by Dr. Shubham Kulkarni, and joined by renowned kīrtana artist Smt. Nina Rao for select sessions, you will rediscover Nāda—sound—as both a sacred and therapeutic force.

Nava Rasa

The course is an exploration of the nava (nine) fundamental rasas (emotions), according to the Indian rasa theory. Carolina leads us to explore and experience these nava rasas through guided reflections, introspection, meditations, breathing exercises, the practice of gestures and gesticulation, as well as movements of the body as a whole, and its various specific parts– like the eyes, eyebrows, lips, cheeks, hands, shoulders, chest, etc.

Vedic Remedies for Modern Spiritual Crises

While in the west we may consider spiritual crises to be a lack of fulfilment, meaningful living or a general feeling of being adrift, in India, spiritual maladies include curses, reaping of bad karmas and becoming possessed, among other disorders. We could write this Eastern view off as superstitious and backwards, until we look more closely at the utterly harmful or disruptive thoughts and beliefs that motivate many of our actions.

Kathā Cikitsā: The Healing Power of Storytelling

Explore where the ancient art of narrative meets the wisdom of Ayurveda. Drs. Ramkumar and Welch join special guests Dr. Robert Svoboda, Fred Smith and others along with the Satsangam team to delve into the therapeutic dimensions of storytelling. The course is designed for those who cherish stories, as well as for anyone seeking to understand how to construct or choose stories that act as the right medicine in varied situations.

Throughout this engaging course, participants will explore the principles of Ayurveda applied to storytelling, learning how to discern whether a story is stabilizing (bṛṃhaṇa) or activating (laṅghana), and how it can be tailored to pacify vāta, pitta, or kapha imbalances.
